Over Maya Dead Body by Sandra Orchard

Let me introduce you to “Over Maya Dead Body”, the third book (possibly the last) in the Serena Jones Mystery Series by Sandra Orchard.

Nothing says relaxation better than a trip to Martha’s Vineyard with close family and friends to celebrate the engagement of a family friend.  One thing we’ve come to expect from Serena, though, is that nothing is ever routine when she’s around.  During what should be a great time of fun and fellowship, Serena gets pulled into a mysterious death and stumbles upon an antiquities smuggling ring.  Also by her side, the two men vying for her affection show up to “save the day” but end up causing even more complications.  Can Serena help in one more investigation? Will she ever decide between the men in her life? Don’t you be taking a vacation, run down now and BUY THIS BOOK!

The only thing worse than finishing a good book is finishing the last book in a great series.  I’m a fan of the adventure/suspense genre and this has been a series that I’ve looked forward to reading whenever a new book comes out.  While this book could be read as a standalone, I would recommend picking up from the start of the series (“A Fool and His Monet”) to get the full effect of the brilliant and witty writing of Ms. Orchard.

Is this a "Guys Book"?   Sure enough! The suspense grabs you from the first page and never lets you go.  There’s not a ton of romance and there is plenty of danger lurking around every corner.

Dark Deception by Nancy Mehl

A little bit of background on this book.  This is the second book in the “Defenders of Justice” series.  The first book is “Fatal Frost”

This story once again centers around the U.S. Marshall’s office and one of their Marshalls.  This story is about Deputy U.S. Marshal Tony DeLuca.  Tony had become involved with Kate O’Brien 4 years ago when she and her sister had been attacked by a serial killer.  Much of the outcome of the trial had to do with Kate’s intervention and the killer was convicted at the trial.  Now in witness protection, her past is coming back full force as it seems they may have convicted the wrong person and the killer is still out there.  With a new trial looming ahead, Kate will only feel safe by having Tony at her side again.  Can Tony keep Kate safe from the killer again?  Will the right person finally be found and brought to justice?  Don’t go hiding from this one, go BUY THIS BOOK!
I always enjoying picking up a copy of a book by Nancy Mehl.  I can always count on reading a plot that stays true from start to finish, fully developed characters and suspense that would put any suspense writer to shame.  Once again, I wasn’t let down.  Nancy seems to tie everything together in a beautiful bow, not with characters that are flawless, but with characters and stories that are flawed just like me.  Maybe that’s what makes me enjoy her books because I can identify with so many of her characters.

Is this a "Guys Book"?   Serial Killer – Check! Danger around every corner – Check! Suspenseful plot that keeps you from wanting to put the book down – Check!.  Definitely a book that any guy would want to get his hands on!
