Triple Time by C. Kevin Thompson

The end of the first book in this series, “30 Days Hath Revenge”, left our hero in a very precarious position.  Luckily, the author saw fit to give us a good synopsis of how we got to the spot we were in.  Without giving too much away for those that haven’t read the first book, I’ll just say that this continuation grabs you by the seat of the pants and never lets go.  Blake Meyer returns and has now suffered a personal loss, they’ve taken his family.  As the clock ticks by, Blake is sure that he has lost them for good to human traffickers.  Hot on the trail, will Blake be able to save his family and bring those behind this crime to justice?

From the start, to the middle, to the end, this book never gives you a chance to catch your breath before you are launched into a round of action and suspense.  The main character is written with such passion and the story line flows throughout the book (although, I think careens is a much better description of how the pace of this story is).  I do have an issue with some of the grammar/editing in the book, probably my only negative part of this book, but it is a something that will hopefully be addressed in future novels.

Is this a "Guys Book"?   No doubt about it.  Explosions, guns, interrogations….. All of the trappings to keep any guy happy while reading this book.

Threads of Suspicion by Dee Henderson

This is the second book in the series that started with Evie being assigned a cold case to see what the chances were that it could be solved. Evie Blackwell is back and a part of the full Missing Persons Task Force.  In this book, Evie takes on the cold case of a missing teenager and pairs up with another detective searching for a missing Private Eye.  Evie lays out her case and develops theories while her new partner, David, works on his own.  As the leads are tracked down, there seems to be some overlap in their cases.  Who will solve their case first?  Is there a connection between the 2 cases? What happened to the missing teen?

As always, Ms. Henderson lays out a beautifully crafted story with intricate characters and believable situations.  The way she intertwines the characters from previous novels gives you a sense of familiarity as you pick up each novel, like looking through a photo album of friends from your past.

Is this a "Guys Book"?   This is a solid read.  It’s full of police procedures and shows the intricacies of an investigation.  There isn’t a lot of action but I believe it is a book that any guy would enjoy reading.

Driver Confessionals by David L. Winters

Antonio is a Buber (Not a fan of the name, would have come up with something different) driver who spends his time connecting with his fares and praying for their needs, knowing that God will use him as needed.  What starts out as a single fare pickup one evening leads to a larger threat to everything Antonio knows and loves.  Nothing better than a great suspense novel with plenty of intrigue and surprise.  Throw in some international nuclear materials dealers, the Russian mob and government corruption and you’ve got the makings of a great novel.

Don’t miss this first book in the “Driver Series”! Be watching for the next book, “Stock Car Inferno”, coming soon to continue Antonio’s story.

Is this a "Guys Book"?   Absolutely!  This is the epitome of a guy’s book and one that every guy should read if he’s looking for an easy suspenseful weekend read
